CeBIT 2012: Expert forum on “Logistics software from the outlet: cloud computing, opportunity or risk”

4flow CEO Dr. Stefan Wolff took part in the logistics and IT forum titled “Logistics software from the outlet: cloud computing, opportunity or risk” at CeBIT on March 8, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event illustrated the possibilities cloud computing offers providers of logistics services. Prof. Michael ten Hompel, managing director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics as well as chair of Materials Handling and Warehousing at the University of Dortmund was the moderator of the forum.
CeBIT is the largest IT and telecommunications trade show worldwide.

4flow was an exhibitor at the Industry Forum Automotive Logistics for the first time this year. Dennis Henning, director of logistics & materials for Europe at LEAR Corporation GmbH was one of the speakers featured at this industry event. He spoke on “Securing global supply chain structures – Dealing with bottlenecks proactively“ under the broader topic of “Active management of costs and risks in European transportation networks.“ As well as Marzell Bandur, Director Supply Chain Planning at Adam Opel AG, who delivered a speech on „Optimal supply of global production networks – the Total Landed Cost approach“.
Experts from industry, academia and the service sector share their knowledge on the automotive supply chain every year true to the motto risk management along the global value chain.

The motto of this year's International Supply Chain Conference was "Flexible – secure – sustainable". 4flow was there with a booth once again in 2011.
Dr. Stefan Wolff, CEO of 4flow AG, moderated the panel discussion "Process Optimisation Through Lean Management?" The panel members included:

  • Patrick Ruiz Martin, Executive Vice President SCM EU, Schindler Management Ltd.
  • Michael Ulverich, Vice President Axle & Transfer Case Production, MAN Truck & Bus AG
  • Dr. Helmut Wlcek, Head of the Central Logistics Unit, Robert Bosch GmbH

In addition to international best practices, the first findings from the BVL working group "Lean Management in Warehouses" were presented.

On May 12, Katharina von Helldorff-Mager, Manager at 4flow AG, and Dr. Stefan Wolff, CEO at 4flow AG and member of the executive board of the German logistics association (BVL),  delivered a motivational speech at 12:05 at the event entitled "Current affairs transport logistic 2011 – women in logistics: first-hand experiences, analyses and discussion" at the transport logistic. The event was hosted by Frauke Heistermann, member of the executive board at AXIT AG and of BVL, and by Dr. Thomas Wimmer, CEO Chairman of the BVL management board. Supply Chain Day 2011

On April 14, 2011, the German Logistics Association (BVL), was inviting companies from the industrial, retail and logistics services sectors to showcase their supply chain management projects and give visitors an insight into the wide variety of logistics and supply chain management activities in day-to-day business. 4flow participated in the Supply Chain Day 2011 with their own booth at the “Studententag LogistikRuhr”, a student day held in cooperation with a regional student logistics group as well as the Technical University of Dortmund. Dr. Stefan Wolff, CEO at 4flow AG, participated in the podium discussion entitled: "Bachelor and/or Master: Opportunities and Challenges after Graduation”. Following thereafter, he also delivered a talk on "Shaping Supply Chains in Dynamic Markets – Career Opportunities in International Projects".

ECR Europe Conference and Marketplace: Meeting the future together

The Day of Logistics allows the public to cast a glance behind the scenes in order to increase public awareness for logistics and to demonstrate its importance. In particular, as a reaction to skilled worker shortage, young people are addressed to be inspired for a professional life in logistics.
