National Prize for transport logistics
The National Prize for transport logistics was announced for the first time in 2005. In the course of the award ceremony, two National Prizes, one special prize and nine nominees were awarded. The National Prize of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) was awarded to honor excellent logistics projects and their professional and innovative potential.
4flow, in co-operation with MAGNA STEYR Fahrzeugtechnik AG & Co KG as well as inet-logistics GmbH, was nominated for the National Prize 2005 in category B: 'Products/system solutions used at the market'. The transport management module (TMM) used by MAGNA STEYR since February 2004 is an integrated, web-based IT solution for transportation planning (scheduling), transportation control (operations), container management and accounting (freight costs clearing) integrating logistics service providers and suppliers - all in one application. The aim of TMM was to replace manual processes and isolated applications in relation to the Magna Group’s transportation management in order to double the manufacturing capacity, which is based on order volume. This could only be achieved by implementing a complete process change based on a new company-specific and highly integrated IT solution. This solution made it possible to optimize the entire process, both cross-divisionally and company-wide. The jury consists of experts from traffic, transport and logistics and media sectors. The jury and the president of the jury are recommended and announced by bmvit. Nominating MAGNA STEYR and 4flow for TMM was based on the following statement made by the jury: “The TMM demonstrates a successful and, an in Austria, a unique system solution. It shows that it is indeed possible to reorganize transport management, from manual processes and isolated applications to automatic and integrated systems, in an efficient manner. Implementing this new system quickly resulted in overall reductions in transportation costs and process durations as well as a massive shift to carriage by rail.”

Project of the month
The Berlin Senate Administration for Economy, Labor, Women, Media and Communication selected 4flow AG as “project of the month“ in November, 2001. “Make it flow“ – that’s what 4flow AG stands for. The start-up company from Berlin combines logistics know-how with modern information technology to offer innovative and powerful corporate concepts. The three business areas – consulting, software and logistics network design – address large and medium-sized companies in the automotive, aviation, consumer goods, food, trade and wholesale trade, electronics and logistics service provider industries.
In today’s global world, industrial and trading companies are moving larger and more complex commodity and information flows. Relationships between suppliers, places of production, warehouses, shipment and customers are therefore also becoming more intricate. These logistics networks are constantly growing through mergers, takeovers and entrepreneurial restructuring, which all require constant adjustments. That is where 4flow comes into the picture. Only a seamless flow of goods and information within the whole company guarantees cost benefits in our increasingly competitive market. Based on their innovative planning software, 4flow develops tailor-made logistics solutions for its customers to assist them in successfully adapting to such changes.
