In many cases, the optimization of transport costs succeeds due to a better bundling of transports and a better efficiency of the vehicles. In doing so, emissions are reduced simultaneously. In the framework of the participation in the UN Global Compact, 4flow has entered into the following voluntary self-commitment:
By 31 December 2012, 4flow wants to avoid total emissions of 500,000 tons CO2 equivalent at its customers by realizing transport optimizations.

Through the regular reporting on this site, the progress of the objectives’ achievement can be observed.
The supply chain design software 4flow vista is used for the calculation. Up to now, 4flow vista was mainly used for cost reductions. Now, 4flow vista has been expanded by features for the calculation and assessment of emissions on transport relations. In the new version, gaseous emissions that arise during transports can be calculated and analyzed accurately per mile for pollutants such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, particles and hydrocarbon.
