"United Nations Global Compact" is the name for a worldwide pact made between companies and the UNO in order to create globalization in a more social and ecological way. In January 1999, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan offered all interested managers the UN Global Compact in a speech on the occasion of the World Economic Forum in Davos/Switzerland.
The Global Compact demands from the companies to accept, support and to realize a catalog of ten basic values from the fields of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption within their sphere of influence.
Today nearly 3,000 companies and 800 further participants have signed the UN Global Compact. Among them are 76 companies from Germany. One of the first German addressers was SAP. Today, companies such as Bayer, BASF, BMW, Coca-Cola, DaimlerChrysler, Johnson Controls, Lucent Technologies, Microsoft, Nike, Siemens and Visteon take part as well.
Alongside respecting the fundamental rights and a clear denomination against any type of corruption, 4flow – as a company operating in the field of logistics – can make a special contribution in the field of environmental protection. 4flow shows its customers the positive effects on the environment by optimizing logistics and transport networks, and supports their realization. Normally, due to such optimization measures, costs as well as emissions can be reduced similarly.
As part of 4flow’s dedication to the UN Global Compact initiative a progress report is issued regularly. Read the latest 4flow report for the period of 2011 to 2012 here.
